Sharanappa has said that the police have, in all, recovered 118 g of gold, among other things, in the three cases. | Photo Credit: FILE PHOTO The police have arrested seven people in connection with robbery and house burglary cases reported in the University and Ashok Nagar police limits in Kalaburagi and recovered stolen property worth nearly ₹26 lakh. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa said that in connection with a robbery reported in the University police limits, four accused, 30-year-old Imran Shaikh, 22-year-old Mohammad Sameer, 29-year-old Mohammad Imtiyaz and 33-year-old Rukmoddin Babu, all residents of M.S.K. Mill in Jilanabad Colony, have been arrested. Imran Shaikh and Mohammad Imtiyaz each have 12 criminal cases registered against them, while Mohammad Sameer faces 11 cases and Rukmoddin Babu has five previous cases in his name. The police recovered 40 grams of gold ornaments valued at ₹6 lakh, along with a motorcycle worth ₹1.25 lakh and a car valued at ₹5 lakh used in the offence. The total value of the seized property in the case is estimated at ₹12.25 lakh. Weapons, including a knife and a hammer, as well as masks used during the crime have also been seized. In a house burglary case in the same police limits, 25-year-old Mohammed Zameer, a resident of Chunabhatti locality in the city, has been arrested. The police recovered 40 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹6 lakh, silver ornaments valued at ₹50,000 and ₹16,000 in cash. In another robbery case reported in the Ashok Nagar police limits, two accused, 20-year-old Akash of Kesaratgi village and 22-year-old Nagaraj, have been arrested. The police seized 38 grams of gold ornaments, a motorcycle and a mobile phone, in all, valued at ₹7.20 lakh.
