A lemon offered to the deity was auctioned for ₹16,000 during the Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Pazhanthinni Karuppasamy Easwaran Temple here on Monday night (February 16, 2026). The temple, located at Pudhu Annamalaipalayam near Vilakethi in Sivagiri, follows the annual tradition of auctioning items offered to the deity as part of the Maha Shivaratri observances. At this year’s auction, a single lemon fetched ₹16,000, with Viswanathan placing the highest bid. A silver coin was auctioned for ₹21,000 to Duraisamy, while a silver ring was sold for ₹52,500 to Paramasivam. Several devotees participated enthusiastically in the bidding process. Devotees believe that keeping the auctioned items at home and performing puja will bring prosperity to their families.
