The final session of the current Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu will end on February 20, 2026, according to Assembly secretary K. Srinivasan. The State will go to polls this summer.

As the State is months away from Assembly election, the last session of the incumbent DMK government began on Tuesday (February 17) with the presentation of interim Budget by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu and interim Agriculture Budget by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam.

On Wednesday (February 18), the Assembly would convene at 9.30 a.m. and adopt resolutions condoling the recent passing of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and eminent educationist S.S. Rajagopalan. Speaker M. Appavu will read out obituary references. Following this, the debate on the interim Budget and Agriculture Budget will begin. The debate would continue on February 19.

On February 20 (Friday), the Finance Minister will present in the House the demand for advance grants for the year 2026-2027 and additional expenditure for 2025-2026 for its approval.
