Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan (whose Thaai Kizhavi is set to release soon), the upcoming film is set to release in theatres in October 2026. The teaser begins on the premises of the Chekkanurani police station in Madurai district, where a group of festivalgoers have gathered — something seems to have gone awry on the second day of the ongoing Maasi Kalari festival at Karumathur Virumandi temple. When the police inspector arrives, the group informs him that a man had hit a bunch of unruly youngsters for flashing laser lights on festival dancers. Soon, the festival committee member also informs that the same entity had hit him for performing in a religious play. “Perhaps he is an atheist,” whispers one of the convicts in a cell, to which his accomplice responds, “No, he is the one who summons God.” And in a pulsating hero-entry, we see Sivakarthikeyan’s character, the mysterious man they have all been discussing about, enter in a state of trance — he is believed to be possessed by’ Lord Virumaandi’ himself. “The OG is back,” exclaims an elderly woman as the titular ‘Seyon’ track begins to play. “Here I come,” announces Seyon. Is the “The OG is back” a reference to Kamal’s 2004 directorial Virumaandi? We have to wait till October for that answer. With music scored by Santhosh Narayanan, the upcoming film has cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar and editing by San Lokesh. Kamal produces the film along with R Mahendran. Interestingly, Sivakumar’s Thaai Kizhavi, set to release on February 27, is produced by Sivakarthikeyan under his SK Productions banner. The film stars Radhika Sarathkumar in the lead role. Notably, Kamal’s Raaj Kamal Films International is also bankrolling Thalaivar 173, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Cibi Chakravarthy, and Kamal’s KH 237, directed by Anbarivu.
