State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar has said that strict action will be taken against those involved in attacks on police officers.

He also stated that allegations raised against Mithun Roy, a civil police officer attached to the Armed Reserve camp, who was involved in an altercation with Students Federation of India (SFI) activists at a mall in Thiruvananthapuram, will be thoroughly investigated. While two cases were registered in connection with the incident, the officer was booked by the Vanchiyoor police under non-bailable charges.

Addressing media persons here, Mr. Chandrasekhar reiterated that the police force would adopt firm action against those assaulting officers, while ensuring that all allegations are impartially examined.

Mr. Roy was purportedly part of a police team that was involved in lathi charging SFI activists during a New Year’s party at Shangumughom.

Meanwhile, an inquiry by the Assistant Commissioner, Fort, has reportedly concluded that there was no misjudgement in filing the case against the police officer. The report has been submitted to the District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) for further action.
