Deputy Commissioner Snehal R. chairing a public grievances redressal meeting in Hubballi on Monday. | Photo Credit: KIRAN BAKALE Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Snehal R., who took charge recently, has said that the administration has chalked out a comprehensive action plan to ensure quick resolutions to public grievances, including water woes during summer, and for improving the quality of education further. Addressing presspersons after hearing public grievances at the Hubballi Tahsildar’s office on Monday, she said that steps are being taken to make the administrative system more people-friendly. “Instructions have been issued to officials of all the departments to strengthen grievance receiving mechanisms at taluk and village levels and to dispose of grievances within a given time frame. Officers have also been directed to conduct onsite inspections based on public inputs and take immediate action,” she said. Ms. Snehal said that special programmes will be implemented to improve SSLC and PU exam results. She said that extra classes, guidance camps, practice tests and sessions by subject experts will be conducted with the aim of improving passing percentage. She said that preparations are under way to prevent water shortage during the summer, while priority will be given to repair defunct drinking water units. Through proper coordination with local bodies, adequate supply of water will be ensured to both people and livestock, she said. To address the street dog menace, a survey is being carried out across the district and plans have been chalked out for vaccination and relocation of stray dogs to shelters, she said.
