ASHOK Jallikattu players and relatives of a bull tamer who was killed in Natham Pugayilaipatti jallikattu on February 11, 2026, staged a protest here on Monday demanding suitable compensation for the family who lost their kin during the sport. The player Neethi alias Balaguru, a native of Alanganallur, participated in the jallikattu event, which was conducted in the village near Natham, said Mudakathan Mani of Tamil Nadu Jallikattu Welfare Association. He attributed the death of the youth to the unavailability of medical services during the event. Since the reason for death was also due to medical negligence, the district administration should also ensure the family received at least ₹10 lakh as compensation from the State government, he demanded. “Balaguru’s wife who is six months pregnant now has become a widow at such a young age. Though the loss cannot be compensated, at least a partial relief to the family would enable them to sustain their lives and take care of the children,” he noted.
