Chief Minister M. K. Stalin laid the foundation, through video conferencing, for establishing a civil services coaching centre, a library, and a sports ground at the Chikkaiah Government Arts and Science College (CNC) premises on Monday.

Following the ceremony, the Minister for Housing, Prohibition an Excise, S. Muthusamy, in the presence of Collector S. Kandasamy, MP K.E. Prakash, and MLA V.C. Chandhirakumar, formally inaugurated the works on the college premises.

The projects include the construction of a civil services coaching centre, library, and sports ground at CNC at a cost of ₹9.40 crore, a 10-classroom building at Government Arts and Science College, Nambiyur Thittamalai, at ₹4.30 crore, a permanent building for Government Arts and Science College, Anthiyur, at ₹17.99 crore, a multi-purpose hall at Government Engineering College, Chithode, at ₹2.88 crore, and a women’s hostel at the college at ₹11.50 crore. The Minister stated that since assuming office, the Chief Minister has been implementing several landmark welfare schemes, elevating the State as a model in development and governance.

He further highlighted that under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, ₹5,000 has been disbursed to 1.31 crore women across the State, bringing significant financial relief to beneficiaries. He also announced that a new bus stand would be established at Kaniravuthar Kulam in the city. The Minister also flagged off 17 new buses on the occasion and distributed free house-site pattas to 70 beneficiaries.
