Rights come with responsibilities and legal literacy clubs play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens, observed Soumen Sen, Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. He was inaugurating a free medical camp and an interactive session with children, jointly organised by the Kottayam District Legal Services Authority and the Legal Literacy Club of Kumarakom Government Vocational Higher Secondary School. The event, recently held at the school auditorium, was chaired by Principal District Judge and chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, M. Manoj. Kerala High Court Registrar G. Gopakumar delivered the keynote address, while A.P. Gopi, president of Kumarakom Grama Panchayat, School PTA president V.S. Sugesh, and District Panchayat Health and Education Standing Committee chairman P.K. Vaishakh also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries present included Kottayam First Class Additional District Sessions Judge and Taluk Legal Services Committee chairperson K. Lilly, Chief Judicial Magistrate Tejomayi Thampuratti, District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Sub-Judge G. Praveenkumar, Kerala Value Added Tax Kottayam District Judicial Member A.S. Mallika, Kumarakom GVHSS Principal M.S. Bijish, Headmaster S.K. Nishad, and Legal Literacy Club Coordinator T. Satyan. Operating under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority, legal literacy clubs in schools nationwide aim to educate children about their legal rights and constitutional values.
