Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta. | Photo Credit: File photo Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Sunday issued an advisory to members of various House Committees, urging them to regularly attend and actively participate in committee meetings. The House Committees are the working pillars of legislative oversight, he said, adding that the committee proceedings often require the presence of senior officers from the departments concerned for presentations and to present inputs on issues under examination. The General Administration Department also issued a circular to all Administrative Secretaries, directing them to attend the sittings of the House Committees. Administrative secretaries have been requested to ensure the timely submission of information and records sought by the committees. The eighth Delhi Legislative Assembly currently has 35 committees, each with 9 members. The most recent report submitted to the Delhi Assembly was by the Committee of Privileges in the matter of “Authenticity of Faansi Ghar”, which was inaugurated on August 9, 2022, at the Assembly Premises.
