BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao said that the life and teachings of Sant Sevalal Maharaj closely reflect the party’s ideology and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to tribal welfare.

Speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, organised at the party’s State headquarters under the leadership of ST Morcha president Ravi Nayak, he criticised both the BRS government and the present Congress government in Telangana for neglecting the development of ‘thandas’(tribal hamlets).

Mr. Rao alleged that although ‘thandas’ were declared Gram Panchayats, the required funds were not released and welfare schemes were not implemented effectively. He claimed that whatever development was taking place in tribal regions was largely due to the Central Government’s Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) funds.

He stressed that it was the Narendra Modi government that had taken ‘historic’ decisions for tribal welfare, including the establishment of the Tribal Commission and a dedicated Tribal Ministry. The setting up of the Samakka-Sarakka Tribal University in Mulugu to expand higher education in tribal areas, construction of the Sevalal Maharaj temple in Maharashtra, and allocation of record funds for tribal development were among the other major initiatives, he said.

Mr. Rao affirmed that the BJP would always stand by tribal communities in their fight for rights and development. He also praised Sant Sevalal Maharaj’s dedication to protecting nature and his efforts to inspire resistance against foreign domination. State vice-president Kalyan Nayak, organisational general secretary Chandrashekhar Tiwari, general secretary Vemula Ashok, and others were present.
