Prominent Backward Classes leader and former MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah passed away on Sunday, drawing tributes from leaders across parties who remembered him as a champion of social justice and community welfare. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over his demise. In a statement, he said Venkaiah had worked tirelessly for the welfare and protection of Backward Classes and consistently raised issues concerning their development and empowerment. Describing him as a simple and humble leader, the Chief Minister said his services to the BC community would be remembered and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed sorrow over the senior leader’s passing. In a statement from Tadepalli, he termed it an irreparable loss to society and said Venkaiah’s commitment to public causes would remain unforgettable. He extended condolences to the family. Ilapuram Venkaiah was regarded as a vocal representative of Backward Classes and a leader who dedicated his political life to safeguarding their rights and welfare. Colleagues remembered him as approachable and principled.
