Missing married woman found safe in Kunigal, Hassan police confirm

Hassan Police, investigating the case of a missing married woman, traced her to Kunigal in Tumakuru district on Saturday night. According to the police, the woman was found with a person she knew in Kunigal.

Priyanka, 29, a resident of Yaliyur near Kunigal, had gone missing after attending a marriage in Chikkamagaluru on February 12.

As she did not return home, her husband filed a complaint with Belur police. Her Aadhaar card, clothes and slippers were found near a tank at Kalkere near Hassan, leaving her family members in worry.

The family members suspected that she had either been kidnapped or murdered for the jewelry she possessed. The police, using phone call data and CCTV footage captured at different locations, confirmed that she had reached Kunigal. It is reported that she was found safe with her friend David. The police brought both of them to Hassan on Sunday for further inquiry.

Hassan SP Shubhanwita told the media that the lady who had been missing was found in Kunigal with a person familiar to her. “She is safe. We have brought her for further inquiry. According to preliminary information gathered so far, the lady did not want stay with her husband,” the officer stated.
