Police have arrested three men for allegedly stealing two-wheelers from Vanagaram and nearby neighbourhoods, and recovered five stolen motorcycles.

The arrests follow complaints from two residents whose vehicles were stolen earlier this month. Ashwin, 23, a postgraduate medical student from Iyyappanthangal, reported that his motorcycle was stolen from outside his home in the early hours of February 2. In a similar incident, Dayalan, 49, of Chettiyar Agaram Main Road, found his bike missing on the morning of February 10 after parking it briefly near his residence.

Acting on the complaints, a special team from the Vanagaram police station’s crime wing inspected the crime scenes and analysed CCTV footage, which led to the identification of three suspects. Police arrested Sunil, 23, of Nolambur, Silambarasan, 26, and Honest Raj, 20, both from Chinna Nolambur, on Friday.

During interrogation, police found that the trio, along with another accomplice who remains absconding, had been roaming on a motorcycle and targeting parked two-wheelers in Vanagaram, Shankar Nagar and Mugalivakkam. Police recovered five stolen bikes from the accused, including the vehicles belonging to the complainants.
