Seven doctors posted in Sikar district were suspended and criminal proceedings initiated against a hospital and a diagnostic centre in Rajasthan in a crackdown on fraud in the State government’s health scheme. The action followed an audit which detected discrepancies in the scheme’s implementation.

Rajasthan’s Principal Secretary for Health Gayatri Rathore said here on Saturday (February 14, 2026) that the doctors at Shri Kalyan Government Hospital and the Government Medical College, both in Sikar, and the Community Health Centre at Kheerwa were found involved in irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) for government employees and pensioners.

Fake claims

Ms. Rathore said that first information reports (FIRs) were also being registered against the Bharatpur Nursing Home in Bharatpur and Bothra Diagnostic and Imaging Centre in Bikaner. Instructions for initiating criminal proceedings have been given to the Chief Medical and Health Officers of the two districts.

The investigation revealed a collusion between the Bharatpur Nursing Home and Kashish Pharmacy to generate fake claims using the RGHS beneficiary cards. The patients were treated without the RGHS approval and fraudulent claims were raised through the pharmacy, causing financial loss to the State exchequer.

Forged signatures

In the case of Bothra Diagnostic Centre, the patients were subjected to unnecessary diagnostic tests, while the prescriptions carried forged signatures and seals of doctors who were either on leave or not posted in the hospital’s out-patient department during the relevant period.

Earlier, 19 FIRs were registered regarding irregularities in RGHS by the hospitals, pharmacies and beneficiaries, 64 medical personnel were suspended, and about 500 RGHS beneficiary cards were blocked. Ms. Rathore said that over ₹32 crore was recovered from the hospitals found involved in irregularities and de-empanelled on these charges.
