Geetha Jeevan launched a book titled ‘Manual for Social Democracy’ at VOC College of Education in Thoothukudi on Saturday. The book was curated by the State Platform for Common School System- Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN). The first copy of the book was received by A. P. C. V. Shanmugam, secretary, VOC College of Education, Thoothukudui. It has been planned to launch the book in every district to incorporate the ideal values explained in the book, especially among school students. It was earlier launched by Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services Palanivel Thiaga Rajan in Madurai last October. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Geetha Jeevan emphasised that the book must reach every teacher and student, as it contains values that need to be understood, especially in today’s world. She added that the current social media platforms have been used to exacerbate caste discrimination, with young boys particularly easily getting influenced by the words of anti-social individuals. The Minister reiterated that the books must reach every teacher, as they serve as a guiding force to shape the upcoming generation and inculcate the thought of creating a caste free environment. P. B. Prince Gajendra Babu, general secretary, SPCSS-TN, T. Kanagaraj, principal, VOC College of Education and other staff from VOC College of Education and students were present.
