The police arrested a 72-year-old man for allegedly misbehaving with a young woman in Rajamangalam. Police sources said the victim, a 23-year-old college student from Villivakkam’s Rajamangalam locality, had gone to a gym in Baba Nagar on the evening of February 10. While she was walking back home after finishing her workout, an elderly man who arrived on a two-wheeler approached her pretending to ask for directions and behaved inappropriately. Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, the Rajamangalam Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and launched an investigation. Following investigation, the police arrested the accused, Sundaram (72), a resident of Kolathur and also seized the two-wheeler used by him. After interrogation, the accused was produced before a court and was remanded in judicial custody.
