The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (February 13, 2026) accused Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of indulging in “anarchic, undemocratic, and politically uncivilised behaviour”, claiming that he did not respect any constitutional decorum or parliamentary rules during the first part of Budget session.

At a press conference, former Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said the conduct of Congress members, under the leadership and “instigation” of Mr. Gandhi, made it clear that he himself had “no regard for democratic process, democratic propriety, constitutional decorum, or the rules of Parliament”.

“On the very day he was creating disorder in Parliament, the results of the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad elections were being declared, and the Congress party was wiped out there as well. It was wiped out in the municipal corporations too. It would have been better had he shown concern for his own party,” said Mr. Prasad.

“On behalf of the party, we strongly condemn the rampant, anarchic, undemocratic, and politically uncivilised behaviour of Rahul Gandhi… he displays no accountability or sense of responsibility,” he said.

The senior BJP leader sought Mr. Gandhi’s response on a notification regarding the singing of Vande Mataram in full. “Where does he stand? Trinamool, CPI and CPI(M) have opposed it. Where does Rahul Gandhi stand? The song that inspired millions of freedom fighters to sacrifice their lives, should it be sung in full or not?” asked Mr. Prasad.
