The State has got one more electronic waste (e-waste) recycling facility with enhanced capacity, taking the number of e-waste treating plants to three. The latest facility has come up at the Industrial Development Plot at Anakkara in Palakkad, with a capacity to recycle 39,360 metric tonnes of plastic every year, significantly more than the capacity of the existing plants. The Pollution Control Board had approved the e-waste recycling plant run by Sithara Recyclers Private Limited in December last year. The existing plants are at Peruvanthanam in Idukki district, run by Sahya Solutions Group of Waste Management, with a capacity of 14,965 metric tonnes per year, and the FACT’s Kochi campus at Ambalamedu, run by Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Limited, with a capacity of 300 metric tonnes per year. Both these plants have the Central Pollution Control Board’s EPR registration.
