St. Joseph’s University on February 13 hosted ‘Roots to Wings’, its first Scholarship Day to mark academic excellence, acknowledge the transformative role of education, and honour scholarship recipients. The chief guest, Dr. Markus Obkircher, director and head of customer solutions R&D (chemistry) at Merck KGaA, said each student represented “hard work and sacrifice”. Chancellor Dionysius Vaz underscored the university’s mission to nurture socially responsible citizens through value-based education. Vice-Chancellor Victor Lobo encouraged the scholarship awardees to make the most of the opportunities provided to contribute meaningfully to society.
