The Kundapura police have arrested S. Prakash,45, of Mathikere in Bengaluru, for his alleged derogatory comment made on the Facebook page of Vartha Bharati Kannada daily. A case was registered on March 4, 2025 by the Kundapura police on an alleged derogatory comment on the post “Ramazan Katheya Hero Mangalurina Mohammed” in Vartha Bharati’s Facebook page. The case was registered for offences punishable for offences under Section 353(2) of Bharaitya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 66 (c) of Information Technology Act. A team led by Kundapura Police Inspector Jayaram D. Gowda arrested Prakash. He was produced before jurisdictional magistrate, who remanded Prakash to judicial custody, the police said.
