The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has removed encroachments from six parks in a single colony on Friday.

In Bhagyalakshmi Colony of Qutbullapur mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, a layout was made in 1968 in 80 acres of land with 810 plots, where 10 plots were earmarked for parks. The developer made use of the high tension power lines that passed through the layout, and allocated plots underneath the lines for parks. Around 20 years ago, the power lines supplying to Jeedimetla industrial area were removed, throwing the plots open for encroachment.

Following directions of Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, HYDRAA officials conducted a field inspection and confirmed the park sites. On Friday, encroachments in six contiguous parks were cleared and fencing was erected encircling the 2,260 square yards of land. HYDRAA boards identifying the land as park space were installed.

On the same day, HYDRAA also secured 1,452 square yards of park site in a 10 acre layout at Gudmalkapur. The layout with 83 plots was made decades ago by the AG Office Cooperative Housing Society. The park site was encroached upon for running businesses and used for parking. After verification, HYDRAA cleared the encroachments and fenced off the land, installing boards indicating the park, a statement informed.
