Deputy Chairperson of Visakhapatnam Port Authority Roshni Aparanji Korati has called upon students to remain vigilant and technologically adept in an increasingly AI-driven world.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised by the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding, a flagship skill development initiative of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, at Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

Recalling her early days as an alumna of the college, Ms. Korati emphasised the importance of engaging with diverse communities to build knowledge and self-confidence. She underlined that hard work and consistency are key to transforming aspirations into achievements, irrespective of social background. Referring to the challenges women often face in balancing professional and personal responsibilities, she urged students to pursue excellence with resilience and determination.

She also spoke about her association with the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding and highlighted the expanding global opportunities in the logistics and maritime sectors.

The Deputy Chairperson distributed course completion certificates and handed over placement offer letters to successful candidates.

G. Madhu Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent of Dr. L. B. Colleges, spoke on the growing importance of logistics across sectors and the rapid strides made by the Visakhapatnam Port Authority in strengthening the region’s logistics ecosystem.

Richa Shinde, Chief Executive Officer of South Asia LPG Company Pvt. Ltd., and Gopal Mandelia, Chief Executive Officer and Whole Time Director of Vizag General Cargo Berth Pvt. Ltd., also addressed the gathering.

A total of 80 undergraduate students from B. A., B. Com, BBA and B. Sc. streams enrolled in the two-month training programme, which offers an industry oriented curriculum and provides 100% placement assistance on successful completion.

The programme was organised by the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding in association with the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Vizag General Cargo Berth Pvt. Ltd., South Asia LPG Company Pvt. Ltd., and Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College.
