Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan and senior officials conducted a review of urea supply and availability across Telangana through a video conference on Thursday. Addressing the officials, Mr. Surendra Mohan instructed district authorities to continuously monitor urea stocks and supply at the ground level. He directed that centre-wise indents be placed regularly and stressed the need for close coordination among the Agriculture Department, MARKFED, District Cooperative Officers (DCOs) and HACA to ensure speedy movement of stocks to designated points. The secretary also called for the establishment of additional sale points wherever required to meet farmers’ demand. He instructed officials to ensure that indented stocks reach the sale points by the same night so that urea is made available for sale to farmers from the following morning. Officials were asked to disseminate daily information on urea availability at the mandal level through the media and other communication channels. Director of Agriculture Dr. B. Gopi underlined the need to maintain adequate advance stocks at all sale points. He instructed officials to initiate strict action against dealers indulging in irregularities and assured the farmers that sufficient quantities of fertilizers are available in the State and appealed to them not to panic.
