Government Dental College and Research Institute modernisation begins

The comprehensive modernisation of the Government Dental College and Research Institute (GDCRI), Karnataka’s 50-year-old State-run dental healthcare institution, commenced on February 13.

The foundation stone was laid by Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil and Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar.

The ₹40 crore project, sanctioned by the State Cabinet, will elevate the facility with luxurious modern interiors, state-of-the-art clinical rooms, and cutting-edge equipment while meticulously preserving the iconic stone architecture on the front facade, said a release.

The existing badminton court will be redeveloped into a three-storey clinical complex, featuring multiple speciality clinics and a rooftop badminton court integrated with a health club. Select outdated internal structures will be replaced with contemporary clinical infrastructure to enhance patient care and education, it added.

Dr. Patil stated, “This modernisation aligns with our vision to blend GDCRI’s rich heritage with world-class facilities, ensuring top-tier dental care for all Karnataka citizens.”

Dr. Sudhakar added, “By investing in such upgrades, we are fortifying Bengaluru’s position as a hub for medical excellence and skill development.”
