Constructed at a cost of less than ₹30 crore, the new multi-level car parking (MLCP) facility at the Kollam railway station is ready for inauguration.

The facility will be officially inaugurated by Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, on Friday. Built as a key component of the ongoing Kollam station redevelopment project, this five-storey reinforced concrete structure stands on a robust foundation and encompasses a total built-up area of approximately 11,450 square metres. The facility is outfitted with advanced safety systems and passenger-friendly features. Its strategic location near the Puthiyakavu temple provides quick access to the highway, and its position adjacent to the railway station ensures seamless and convenient access to all users.

Offering a significant boost to organised parking at Kollam Junction, the new multi-level facility can accommodate over 200 two-wheelers and more than 130 four-wheelers at a time. This modern complex is a vital component of the ongoing redevelopment at the station, designed to upgrade infrastructure, alleviate congestion, and enhance overall passenger amenities for the growing number of daily commuters.

The ceremony will take place in the presence of N.K. Premachandran, MP, Mayor A.K. Hafeez, M. Naushad, MLA, and M. Mukesh, MLA.
