Vice-Chancellor N.K. Lokanath, on Friday, advised MBA students of the University of Mysore to prepare themselves for increasing competition, as a large number of students are now pursuing the course in universities across the country, as well as in foreign institutions.

“Unless you are competitive, it is challenging to make a mark in the field. Competence is key. Many students are pursuing MBA programmes in foreign universities, as they understand the value of the course,” he said after inaugurating a two-day workshop on Corporate Competency Building organised at the B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS) in the Manasagangotri campus.

The VC noted that some foreign universities are establishing their campuses in India to offer courses, including MBA programmes, to Indian students. “In such a scenario, students studying in universities like ours must prepare and equip themselves with the necessary skills to prove their competence and face the corporate world,” he added.

He pointed out that in England, 30–40% of students are pursuing MBA courses and that competition is becoming tougher.

Registrar (evaluation) N. Nagaraja, BIMS chairman R. Mahesh, senior professors Prof. D. Anand, Prof. S.J. Manjunath, Prof. M. Amulya and others were present.
