The Madurai Corporation has announced that drinking water distribution would be suspended for two days – February 17 and 18 – in some parts of the city. According to a press release, following replacement of new valves to be carried out at two pumping stations in TB Road and in New Jail Road (near Madurai Coats bridge), the drinking water would be suspended in wards 44-70, 76, 77, 85 and 89 respectively. The technicians would be replacing the worn-out gadgets with new ones in the two locations. For this purpose, they have to stop the distribution of potable water. Hence, the residents have been urged to use water judiciously, the release said.
