According to official sources, the flag staff was seen tilting and resting on the ‘mandap’ roof by the devotees at this ancient temple on February 13. Immediately, the area was cordoned off by the temple authorities who have made arrangements for the ‘balalayam’ of the flag staff to pave way for the removal of the old and damaged 51-feet high wooden staff, covered with gold-dipped copper plates. Consecration of the holy staff would take place after replacing the old one with a new wooden staff. Though renovation work was carried out and consecration of this temple was performed in February 2024, the old wooden flag staff was not replaced, sources added.
