There is no clarity if president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will attend the winter session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly which resumes on Friday. | Photo Credit: SIDDHANT THAKUR The Telangana Legislative Assembly will resume its sessions on Friday amid expectations of heated exchanges, following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s sharp attack on former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) at a meeting with Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs on Thursday. The House is likely to witness intense debate, particularly on the contentious issues related to Krishna and Godavari river water sharing and ongoing irrigation projects. The ruling Congress is expected to press the issue aggressively, with the Chief Minister making it clear that KCR should attend the Assembly without apprehension of being heckled by the Treasury benches. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is likely to lead the government’s charge during the debate, strongly articulating the Congress government’s stand on how the BRS mismanaged the projects and damaged the State’s interests forever. From the Opposition benches, former ministers T. Harish Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) are expected to mount the defence and counter the government’s allegations. However, there is uncertainty over the presence of KCR in the House, despite repeated calls by the ruling party for him to participate in the debate. The government is likely to pass a resolution against the changes in the MNREGA scheme and burdening the States reducing the Centre’s share from 90% to 60%.
