He said the Indian government is committed to “the peace, progress, and prosperity of both our peoples”. After 20 years, the BNP is set to stake claim to form the government in Bangladesh. It won more than 200 seats in the Bangladesh general elections. Mr. Rahman faces immediate challenges in restoring political stability, reviving investor confidence and rebuilding key industries – including the garment sector – after prolonged turmoil that followed the collapse of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government in 2024. An interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been in charge since then.
