“Numaish is a role model for Telangana’s commercial and cultural development. It has evolved into much more than a trade fair over the decades, “ said Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao during the prize distribution ceremony at the expo on Thursday.

The Minister said that the event had so far attracted over 20 lakh visitors, reflecting people’s strong connection with Hyderabad and the enduring appeal of the annual exhibition.

He noted that the Numaish serves as an important platform for small and medium-scale traders from across the country to showcase and market their products. Suggesting that its benefits be extended further, he called for the exhibition to be expanded to district headquarters across the State.

Tracing its history, the minister pointed out that the exhibition began in 1938 with just 100 stalls and has now grown to around 1100 stalls, signalling significant industrial and entrepreneurial progress. He said the Numaish generates substantial direct and indirect employment and makes a meaningful contribution to economic activity.

Describing the exhibition as an inseparable part of Hyderabad’s identity, alongside Charminar, Golconda and the city’s famed biryani, the Minister said it symbolises unity in diversity. Featuring products from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the Numaish presents a “mini India” and reflects the city’s composite Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.

He also commended the Exhibition Society for utilising its revenues for social causes, particularly through the management of 19 educational institutions catering to nearly 30,000 students, with a special focus on women’s education.
