Sriram An exhibition-cum-trade fair aimed at providing marketing support to artisans under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme began in Mysuru on Thursday. The three-day expo has been organised by the MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Bengaluru, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, in association with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka. The event is being held at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road and will conclude on Saturday. Devaraj K, Director, MSME-DFO, Bengaluru, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the expo. T. Dinesh, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Mysuru was the guest of honour. N. P. Krishnamurthy, Lead Bank Manager, Mysuru; Parashuramappa, domain expert; G. Dharmappa, President, KHACS, Mysuru; and K. B. Lingaraju, President, MCCI, Mysuru were present. In his address, Mr Devaraj outlined the objectives of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and highlighted its role in supporting artisans engaged in 18 traditional trades through skill development, financial assistance and improved market access. Mr. T. Dinesh urged eligible artisans to register under the scheme and avail benefits offered by the Central and State governments. Around 50 stalls have been allotted to artisans and craftspeople from various districts of Karnataka, showcasing products manufactured by PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries. Shivakumar A, Assistant Director Grade-I, and Maroti Dube, Assistant Director Grade-I were present. The organisers have appealed to the public to visit the exhibition and support traditional artisans and their products.
