Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi president Kuncham Venkatasubba Reddy has urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to allocate 42 per cent of the State Budget to the Rayalaseema region and introduce a separate budget for its development. Highlighting pending irrigation projects and alleged injustices in river water sharing, Mr. Reddy said proposals such as the Krishna-Pennar project and interlinking of the Krishna, Tungabhadra, and Pennar rivers were never realised, depriving lakhs of acres in Rayalaseema of irrigation water. In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister on Thursday, he called for the establishment of startup corridors in each district, immediate financial support for the proposed Rayalaseema steel plant, restoration of crop insurance for farmers, and dedicated funds for infrastructure, industries, roads, hospitals, and educational institutions. Mr. Reddy also sought financial backing to promote the region’s cultural festivals and commemorate prominent leaders and literary figures from Rayalaseema.
