In view of the Mahashivarathri festival, Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner Shreerupa has issued an order temporarily banning the movement of two and three-wheelers to Male Mahadeshwara (M.M.) Hills in the district from February 13 to 18. The ban covers motorcycles, scooters, autorickshaws and goods vehicles. The restriction has been imposed as lakhs of devotees from within the district, other parts of the state and neighbouring states are expected to visit the temple during the annual jathra mahotsava. In her order, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the ghat road leading to M.M. Hills passes through forest areas and has sharp bends and narrow stretches. With a significant surge in vehicular traffic anticipated during the festival, there is a risk of congestion and accidents. The temporary ban on two- and three-wheelers has been enforced for the specified period to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth traffic management during the festival, she said.
