A village administrative officer, V. Kasirajan, 39, in Tirumangalam taluk in Madurai district was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,500 for processing an application seeking transfer of patta on Thursday. Acting on a complaint from P. Muthupriya of Mathippanur, the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption in Madurai laid a trap for the VAO of Mathippanur I Bit. Ms. Muthupriya approached Kasirajan for sub-division and transfer of name of patta for 15 cents of land she had bought in December 2025. Kasirajan demanded a bribe of ₹6,000 and later reduced it to ₹5,500. Further investigation is on.
