Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday instructed senior IAS and IPS officers to promptly deliver services to the public without delay in a humane manner.

Addressing officials after customary exchange of greetings on the first day of the New Year, the Chief Minister said, “Although Ugadi is a new year in the Hindu tradition, the new year that begins today according to the English calendar is welcomed with celebrations all over the world.”

The Chief Minister wished that the year 2026 brings prosperity and happiness to the people of the State and happiness to the poor and farmers.

Noting that a good monsoon crop would solve most of the problems, he expressed concern that despite good rains in 2025, farmers had incurred crop damage in an area of 12 lakh hectares. The Union government provides relief through NDRF, and the State government through SDRF. “It is our duty to respond to the hardships of farmers by providing more relief,” he said.

Noting that the role of officials was important in responding to the hardships faced by farmers and the people, Mr. Siddaramaiah said a compensation of ₹8,500 per hectare had been given towards crop loss bringing some relief to farmers.

Stating that officers should work with new enthusiasm, the Chief Minister said, “If the officers are in power for 30 to 40 years, we (the government) will be in power for a five-year term.”
