A three-day music festival ‘Shivasphurti Mahashivaratri Suvarna Sangeetotsava’, which is part of Mahashivratri celebrations, will be held in Dharwad starting from Friday.

The festival has been organised jointly by the Shivasphurti Mahashivaratri Suvarna Sangeetotsava Celebration Committee, Mudi Maruti Galli association and Shri Kumareshwar Cultural Society.

Organiser Veeranna Pattar told reporters in Dharwad on Thursday that the music festival would be held on February 13 and 14 at Alur Venkatrao Cultural Bhavan in Dharwad from 5 p.m. onwards and on February 15, the concluding all-night musical event and presentation of the ‘Swarna Sadhaka Shiva’ awards would be held at Mudi Maruti Temple from 6 p.m.

Renowned artists from across the State and country and will perform at the music festival.

The performers include Rudresh Bhajantri, Nikhil Joshi, Pandit Satalingappa Desai Kallur, Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, Pandit Ravindra Yavagal, vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, Suma Hegde, Sunil Kumar, Raghunath Nakod, Shrihari Diggavi, Vijaykuamr Sutar, Basavaraj Hiremath and others.

Gururaj Bhajana Mandali, young artists of Swararanjani Music School and Kalakeri Sangeet Vidyalaya, and Hrishikesh Arabatti will perform on the February 15 all-night devotional music programme.

Awards

Mr. Pattar said that ‘Swarna Sadhaka Shiva Prashasti’ would be conferred on various artists including Padma Shri Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar, Vidushi Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, Pandit Pathasarathy, Pandit Raghunath Nakod, Pandit Ravindra Yavagal, Vidushi Sangeeta Katti Kulkarni, Pandit Satalingappa Desai Kallur, Vadiraj Dandapur, Sujata Gurav, Vinayak Hegde and Vijay Gonhalu.
