Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin inaugurated a rail overbridge on Korukkupet-Manali Road on Thursday

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday (February 12, 2026) inaugurated a rail overbridge on Korukkupet-Manali Road (at level crossing 2B) in Chennai, which has been constructed at a cost of ₹96.04 crore. He also unveiled the foundation for the construction of another railway overbridge on the Korukkupet-Ennore highway (at level crossing 2A) to be constructed at a cost of ₹75 crore.

During his visit to the area, Mr. Stalin unveiled the foundation for the construction of a park near Korukkupet-Manali Road at a cost of ₹1.10 crore. Ministers K.N. Nehru and P.K. Sekarbabu; Chennai Mayor R. Priya; North Chennai MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy; legislators R.D. Shekar, J.J. Ebenezer and R. Murthy; and senior officials were present.

The newly inaugurated railway overbridge is 840 metres long and 8.40 metres wide, and also has service roads on both sides with a width of five metres. It is expected to benefit about one lakh people in the Kodungaiyur, Korukkupet, Tondiarpet, Ezhil Nagar, Kannadasan Nagar, and Nehru Nagar areas.

The Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department had, in the demand for grants in the Assembly for 2022-23, announced that a railway overbridge would be constructed across the 2B level crossing on Korukkupet-Manali Road.

The overbridge planned at the 2A level crossing would be 448 metres long and 11 metres wide. It would also have a 5-metre-wide pedestrian pathway, an official release said. The park, for which the Chief Minister unveiled the foundation on Thursday, would be spread over 19,128 sq. ft.
