Cordon and search operation in Rein Bazar, 37 vehicles seized

Over 150 police officials from the Charminar Police zone in Hyderabad carried out a large-scale cordon and search operation in Rein Bazar police limits on Wednesday (February 11, 2026), as part of an effort to enhance public safety and curb unlawful activities.

The police teams, supported by armed personnel, combed through the area, verifying individuals with criminal records and checking vehicles and premises.

During the drive, 37 two-wheelers were seized for being operated without number plates or with improper or tampered registration plates. Police said such violations not only breach traffic regulations but also raise concerns about their potential use in criminal activities.

Six rowdy sheeters — Syed Ali, Habeeb Sikander, Talib Khan, Jaffar Ali, Ali Hussain and Syeeduddin, were identified and taken in for verification of their current activities. In addition, nine persons listed under suspect sheets, including Khaled, Sameer, Aziz Baba, Hyder Ahmed, Ibrahim, Ibrahim Khan, Syed Ali, Shaik Mohammed and Azhar, were traced and their details thoroughly checked.

The operation also led to the seizure of three knives, a hukka set, five packets of ganja and three small gas cylinders that were stored or used unlawfully.

Speaking to the media, Charminar Zone DCP, Khare Kiran Prabhakar, said that similar cordon and search operations would continue across the zone to maintain law and order and instil a sense of security among residents.

The officer also urged residents to carry out proper background verification before renting out their houses, cautioning that several offenders involved in property and violent crimes often attempt to secure accommodation , particularly during the festive season.
