A 17-year-old girl allegedly ended her life due to emotional distress caused by her parents’ separation at Chennammanakere Achukattu in the city.

The deceased has been identified as Lekhna, a class 10 student. According to the police, she had not been attending school regularly.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that Lekhna’s parents were living separately due to family disputes. Lekhna was living with her mother, who works in a supermarket.

The police said that she was deeply distressed by the separation and felt emotionally neglected.

In a death note, Lekhna reportedly wrote that she did not receive love and affection from either parent and felt lonely. She said that she herself was responsible for taking the extreme step.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday night.

Her body was shifted to KIMS Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the C.K. Acchukattu police station.
