The election of the members of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to be held from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on February 13, according to the Bar Council Secretary B. Padmalatha. She said that the election would be held at 149 polling stations across the State under the supervision of a high-power committee constituted by the Supreme Court. The committee appointed Andhra Pradesh High Court retired judge A.V. Sesha Sai as the Returning Officer. After the State bifurcation, separate elections for the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh were held in Hyderabad in 2018. The present election is the second one after that. About 40,000 advocates are eligible to exercise their franchise, and 146 nominations have been filed by the candidates, out of which 143 have been found valid after due scrutiny. Upon completion of the polling process, the counting of votes will commence at the HC at 10.30 a.m. of February 16.
