A file picture of Mysuru jail. | Photo Credit: M A Sriram A package of banned items was reportedly hurled into the Mysuru jail premises from the road adjoining the burial ground on Monday (December 29, 2025) evening. A statement from the Chief Superintendent of Mysuru Central Jail said a suspicious object covered in a black coloured tape was thrown by unidentified persons into the back side of the jail premises around 7.20 p.m. on December 29. When the package was opened, a mobile charger with connector, mobile battery, nine packets of beedis and one packet of cigarettes, besides stones were found. As the items were banned inside the jail premises, the same were handed over to the jurisdictional Mandi Police station and a case was registered. Subsequently, when an inspection was conducted in the jail premises around 7.35 p.m. on Tuesday (December 30, 2025), a mobile phone with battery, an OTG connector, pen drive and other items were recovered. A case in the regard has been registered with the Mandi Police station, said a statement from the Chief Superintendent of Mysuru Central Jail.
