Ayyanna Patrudu. “The long-pending housing facilities for legislators are nearing completion,” Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu told The Hindu at his chambers on the Assembly premises on Wednesday. These apart, the residential buildings meant for the Ministers and senior bureaucrats would also be inaugurated at around the same time, he said, and was optimistic that Amaravati would witness visible transformation once the elected representatives start occupying the quarters. “After the members shift to their official residences, the capital city’s visibility will be different. There will be more vibrancy and increased activity in Amaravati,” the Speaker said, indicating that it would accelerate administrative and political engagements in the capital region. Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu further said that accommodation for the personal and official staff of the MLAs and MLCs would be provided within the respective members’ quarters, ensuring better logistical support for legislators in discharging their duties. On the progress of the iconic Legisative Assembly Complex, the Speaker said he expects the construction to be completed by 2028. Referring to his recent visit to the project site, he said the contractors had expressed confidence in completing the works within the stipulated time-frame. “I hope the NDA government will be able to conduct the Legislative Assembly sessions in the new iconic structure by the end of 2028, marking a significant milestone in the development of Amaravati as the State’s capital,” the Speaker observed. Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju was present.
