The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation has announced the 29th Mahaveer Awards to recognise outstanding individuals and institutions for selfless service in various fields. In the health care category, Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, Karnataka, was recognised for providing accessible cancer care. Sangkhumi Bualchhuak, Mizoram, was recognised for her work to advance women’s rights. NIRMAN, Odisha was recognised for efforts to strengthen livelihood and food security of tribal people in Odisha. Each Mahaveer Award carries a cash prize of ₹10 lakh, along with a commendatory citation and a memento.
