Police arrested 258 members of the Revenue Department for engaging in a road picketing protest in Sivaganga.

The Federation of Revenue Department Officials’ Associations initially staged a demonstration at the Sivaganga Palace entrance, demanding the enactment of a Special Duty Protection Act for revenue officials.

The protesters raised several key demands, including implementation of an enhanced special pay scale, extension of guaranteed pension scheme benefits to Village Assistants, increasing the quota for compassionate ground appointments to 25%, mandating a degree as the minimum qualification for the direct recruitment of Village Administrative Officers (VAOs).

Following the demonstration, the officials marched in a procession and staged a road blockade near the MGR statue. Police subsequently arrested 258 participants for blocking traffic.
