Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy claimed that illegal phone tapping was still continuing in the State, pointing a finger of suspicision at the BRS, without naming it.

He asserted that the government was treating the issue with utmost seriousness and warned that those responsible would face strict and uncompromising action. He was referring to a leaked audio of a conversation played by the BRS at a press conference.

Addressing a press conference in Khammam on Wednesday, the Minister said the government has already begun inquiries into where surveillance equipment was installed and who was behind the operation.

“Phone tapping had taken place earlier and was continuing even now. This is absolutely true. Some individuals are indulging in these illegal activities. We will bring out who the masterminds are and where the equipment was installed,” he said.

Responding to a query, he said there was nothing wrong in seeking votes from employees and clarified that he had done so openly on behalf of his party.

The Minister said the Congress would bag 80% of the seats in Khammam district. “Over the last two years, we have stood by every promise and taken governance closer to the people. That is why Congress is set to win,” he said.
