The Department of Children Welfare and Special Services has initiated the process of reconstituting Juvenile Justice Board in Tiruppur district. The department has invited applications for appointment of social workers as members. Under the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Director of Children Welfare and Special Services has invited applications from those involved in health, education or welfare activities pertaining to children for at least seven years (or) from a practicing professional with a degree in child psychology, psychiatry, sociology or law. The age of the applicant should not be less than 35 years or more than 65 years on the date of notification. The department has stated that the Social Worker Members for Juvenile Justice Board will be appointed by the Government on a honorarium basis, of which one shall be a woman. The position is not a Government employment, a press release issued by the District Child Protection Unit, Tiruppur, said. The application format and eligibility criteria could be obtained from the District Child Protection Unit or downloaded from https://dsdcpimms.tn.gov.in. Filled-in applications should reach the Director, Directorate of Children Welfare and Special Services, No 1A,1st floor, CMDA Tower-II, Gandhi Irwin Road, Egmore, Chennai – 600 008, on or before March 12, 5 p.m. The appointment will be purely based on merit and experience, the release said.
