Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu on Tuesday inspected the progress of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) biogas plant works and the key facilities in Tirumala.

Mr. Naidu who visited the biogas plant site at Kakulamanutippa said that the project, for which the foundation was laid five months ago, is scheduled for completion by March and is expected to become operational in May.

The plant, with a proposed capacity of 40 tonnes of biogas per day, is projected to help the TTD save around ₹1.52 crore annually. The initiative would address waste management concerns by recycling organic waste and easing pressure on the Tirumala dumping yard.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Naidu inspected Sudarshan Sadan and instructed the officials to take steps to prevent water leakages in the rooms. He said a decision would be taken after consultations with officials on whether the building should be modernised or reconstructed.

He interacted with the pilgrims from different States and gathered feedback on the facilities being provided. At the Sudarshan Sadan food counter, he joined Srivari Seva volunteers in serving Anna Prasadam.

Deputy Executive Officers and other senior officials accompanied the TTD Chairman during the inspections.
