The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a sub-inspector of police posted at Madhapur police station while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 for extending an official favour. The accused officer, identified as Gandra Vinay, demanded the bribe from the complainant in exchange for providing copies of a notice issued in a 2025 cheating case of Madhapur police station, and for assuring that the complainant would not be arrested in the case in future. The tainted bribe amount of ₹50,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused officer at his instance. Following the trap, the accused was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The ACB reiterated that people can report demands for bribes by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064 or by contacting ACB Telangana through its official social media platforms.
